HEAD GIRL'S

SPEECH

A WARM WELCOME FROM OUR HEAD GIRL

GLORIA LEE 5D

Good afternoon Sister Pauline, Mr. Chow, Ms. Yu, Mr. Pang, teachers, and fellow students. It is my honor to be here today, pledging my service to the Central Board for this academic year. A new pin is tugging on my tie, and new responsibilities have landed on my shoulders. I carry with me my greatest humility and gratitude as I embark on this new journey.

Along with a new role, this year marks many other firsts for me. A new pin, new shoes, and a new set of uniform. 5 years ago, I stepped into St. Joseph’s Hall in my pigtails and started over with a fresh page in my book. I was inspired by the student leaders who came before me. I was intrigued by the many opportunities that laid before me. I was excited, though a little scared, to explore the way ahead of me. Through different experiences Good Hope has offered, seeds of leadership and perseverance were sown in me and 10 other girls-turned-young ladies. With a little bit of faith and relentless support from our families, friends and the school, we have made our way here to our milestone.

Today, the 11 of us step into the same hall again with new roles and responsibilities, nervous yet eager to start over again. The future may hold the unknown, but we are ready to be courageous and try our hardest.

The last school year has posed unprecedented challenges to our society, our school, and ourselves. With the social unrest and the Coronavirus pandemic, we may have stumbled upon our way, but our uncertainties have only fuelled our growth and learning. Standing in adversity, we unleashed our most exceptional potential and determination to make our way to the end of the tunnel. This year, I wish to take on the same courage and resilience, and guide my team in providing the best for our schoolmates regardless of our circumstances. In solidarity, we will push through the challenges and become the great women leaders we have aspired to be.

With that said, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Sister Pauline, Mr. Chow, Ms. Yu and Mr. Pang. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the school in the one of the best ways possible, and trusting me with the duties of a Head Girl. Another sincere thank you goes to my teachers and schoolmates. Your unceasing support for the Central Board will continue to fuel our passion and dedication. To the Central Board exco members of 2019-2020, thank you for keeping the spirit of service ablaze amidst such difficult times. We will pass on the torch and carry on your legacy. Last but not the least, to my incoming teammates, thank you for joining me on this great journey to come. I look forward to working with you all.

Here and now, I promise on behalf of the Central Board to serve Good Hope School and its student body to the best of our ability. We hope to bring to everyone a great year ahead filled with wonderful memories and friendships. Together, let us make the most of our time here in campus and fill our new chapters with love and gratitude. Thank you and God Bless.
